Botanical Name: Amyris balsamifera
Key Constituents: Valerianol, β-eudesmol, elemol, sesquiterpenols
Commonly known as West Indian Sandalwood, amyris essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of its slow-burning, resinous wood. Compared to true sandalwood, it has a lighter, sweet-woody, and subtly balsamic aroma. Owing to its meditative and emotionally balancing qualities, amyris essential oil is widely used in aromatherapy.
